Eggstraordinary Kindness: Local JLR Staff Deliver Sweet Surprise to Solihull Academy Students

 Easter Eggs Jaguar Landrover

Easter came early this year at Solihull Academy – and it arrived in serious style.

On Wednesday 9th April, students across several of our provisions were treated to an incredibly generous delivery of over 200 Easter eggs from our friends at one of our local Jaguar Land Rover sites. Delivered straight to our Main Site in a gleaming Land Rover Discovery, this heartwarming donation brought smiles, excitement, and a whole lot of chocolatey joy to our school community.

The eggs were generously purchased and donated by staff at the Castle Bromwich, EVO and SVO departments of JLR,  and distributed between our Pathfinder, Mercury and Year 9,10 & 11 cohorts here at main site. Apollo and Saturn Centre didn’t miss out either with eggs delivered for them as well. What a particular delight for our primary pupils at Apollo!

The initiative was made possible thanks to the efforts of Theresa Halpin, a former member of the Solihull Academy team, who now works at JLR. We are absolutely delighted – and extremely grateful – that Theresa and her colleagues thought of us this Easter. It was lovely to see Theresa again and we agree whole heartedly with her comment: "I had an eggcellent experience donating to my former workplace and seeing past colleagues and making a difference"

Jenny Blacker, a member of staff at Solihull Academy who helped to organise the surprise, was there to receive the delivery and summed it up perfectly:

"This incredibly generous donation has allowed us not only to give each of the students at these provisions an Easter egg but also left us enough for additional behaviour/attendance rewards. We would like to say a massive thank you to Theresa and the team that has made this achievable."

Moments like this remind us just how much can be accomplished when local organisations, businesses, and schools come together. The simple act of giving a student an Easter egg – especially when it’s unexpected – can have a big impact. It shows care, builds community, and helps create a positive atmosphere for both staff and students.

Driven by Community Spirit

What made this gesture even more special was the way it was delivered. Shiny Land Rovers (A Range Rover Sport and a Discovery to be exact) pulling up to the school gates with boxes of chocolate in the back? That’s an entrance our students won’t soon forget! It’s a fantastic reflection of the commitment of local businesses to their local community, and to going the extra mile to make a difference in young people’s lives.

Solihull Academy’s mission is to support, empower and encourage students to thrive – not just academically, but emotionally and socially too. Donations like these do more than just satisfy a sweet tooth. They show our students that they are seen, valued, and supported by the wider world – and that really matters.

To Everyone – Thank You

To all the staff within the SVO, EVO and Castle Bromwich areas of JLR who dipped into their own pockets to make this happen – thank you. Your kindness and generosity haven’t gone unnoticed. And to Theresa Halpin – your continued connection to Solihull Academy means a great deal to us. We’re proud to be part of your journey, and so grateful that you’re still part of ours.

From all of us at Solihull Academy – staff and students alike – thank you for making this Easter one to remember.
