Primary Provision Outreach Offer

Our outreach service is designed to support schools/ provisions in maintaining placements, improving pupil engagement and reducing the risk of suspension, exclusion or placement breakdown. Support is collaborative and tailored to the needs of the pupil, staff and setting.

Safeguarding Support

  • Advice and guidance regarding safeguarding concerns affecting presentation in school.
  • Support staff in understanding the impact of trauma, attachment and adverse childhood experiences.
  • Liaison with designated safeguarding leads where appropriate.
  • All outreach staff will adhere to the host provision's safeguarding and child protection policy while working on site.

Staff Consultation and Coaching

  • ‘Check ins’ with pupil/staff during transition period.
  • Observation of pupils within their learning environment.
  • Staff consultations to identify barriers to engagement.
  • Development of practical strategies to support regulation, relationships and learning.
  • Modelling approaches and interventions within classrooms at Apollo.
  • Support for restorative conversations.
  • Guidance on creating sensory ‘safe’ environments for pupils.

Strategy Booklet

Where appropriate, outreach support will include a personalised strategy booklet containing:

  • Pupil strengths and interests.
  • Known triggers and barriers.
  • Effective regulation strategies.
  • Communication approaches.
  • Classroom adaptations.
  • Relationship-building techniques.
  • Individual intervention recommendations.
  • Environmental considerations.
  • Staff consistency expectations.
  • Review dates and impact measures.

Transition Support

Circle of Friends Approach

To support successful transitions and inclusion, outreach may facilitate a structured Circle of Friends process.

Prior to Transition (without the pupil present)

  • Staff and peers receive information and guidance.
  • Exploration of how peers can offer support.
  • Identification of strengths and shared interests.
  • Preparation of a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Following Transition (with pupil involvement)

  • Facilitated Circle of Friends meetings.
  • Development of peer support networks.
  • Encouragement of belonging and positive relationships.
  • Ongoing review of friendship and inclusion outcomes.

 Expectations of School Staff

  • To maximise impact, schools engaging with outreach support are expected to:
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns through established channels.
  • Attend agreed consultation and review meetings.
  • Implement agreed strategies consistently.
  • Engage positively with coaching and feedback.
  • Support opportunities for observation and intervention.
  • Contribute to reviewing progress and next steps.
  • Promote inclusion and relationship-based practice.
  • Ensure communication between relevant staff remains effective and timely.

Intended Outcomes

  • Through outreach support we aim to:

  • Improve emotional regulation and wellbeing.
  • Strengthen staff confidence and capacity.
  • Develop sustainable strategies within schools.
  • Improve peer relationships and social inclusion.
  • Enable pupils to remain successfully within their educational placement wherever possible.
